Course overview:   This course provides essential basic knowledge and skills to take charge at the scene of
    an accident and to provide emergency first aid in the absence of a fully qualified first
    aider. It is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their knowledge and skills in first aid.
     
Course length:   1 day. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
    subject to suitable training facilities being available.
     
Requirements:   None.
     
Course includes:   Incident management, first aid equipment and supplies, simple record keeping, advice on
    hygiene, hepatitis B, HIV and AIDS, dealing with an unconscious casualty, basic life support,
    control of bleeding, recognition and treatment of shock, head injuries.

Course overview:   This course is for persons selected to be the recognised first aider in the workplace, and
  meets the standards required by the Health & Safety Executive to achieve the Certificate of
  First Aid atWork. This course meets the requirements of the HSE (First Aid) Regulations
    (1981).
     
Course length:   3 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
  subject to suitable training facilities being available.
     
Requirements:   None.
     
Course includes:   Legal aspects, risk assessment, fractures, spinal injury, muscle and joint injury, basic life
    support, care of the unconscious casualty, heart attack, angina, epilepsy, diabetes, asthma,
    shock, poisons, bleeding, crush injuries, casualty examination, transport, head injuries, eye
    injuries, first aid equipment, record keeping, burns, scalds, chemical burns, electrical burns,
    hygiene, hepatitis B, HIV and AIDS.
     
     
    HSE First Aid At Work Refresher (Re-qualification)
     
Validation:   3 years. Lifeskills Medical Award Health & Safety Executive Approved. MTA Approved,
    Resuscitation Council (UK) Recognised.
     
Course overview:   This course is designed to train and re-certificate the First Aid at Work qualification. It is
    intended for persons who already hold a valid HSE Approved First Aid at Work certificate
    which is nearing expiry.
     
Course length:   2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own
  site subject to suitable training facilities being available.
 
     
Requirements:   All applicants must hold a valid HSE Approved First Aid At Work certificate.
     
Course includes:   As per HSE Approved First Aid at Work.
     
     
    Paediatric (OFSTED) First Aid
   
Validation: 3 years. Lifeskills Medical Award, Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award, OFSTED Approved.
   
Course overview: This course is a BTEC award designed to train and certificate persons in paediatric emergency
  first aid and medical emergencies. This course meets the criteria for first aid training
  stipulated by OFSTED. It is suitable for those working in early years settings or with children
  and young people in a health and social care setting.
   
Course length: 2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
  subject to suitable training facilities being available.
   
Requirements: None.
   
Course includes: Recognising and responding to the unwell child, minor illness, major illness, care of the
  unconscious child, managing an emergency situation.
   
   
  First Person On Scene (FPOS) Basic
   
Validation: 3 years. Edexcel IHCD Award.
   
Course overview: This course is an IHCD award, designed to give those involved in pre-hospital care the vital
  knowledge and techniques necessary to manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few
  minutes until handover to a medical service.
   
Course length: 2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
  subject to suitable training facilities being available.
   
Requirements: None.
   
Course includes: Pre-hospital environment, patient assessment, respiration and airway management, basic life
  support, defibrillation, circulation and shock, medical and trauma related emergencies.
   
   
  First Aid Provision - Health & Safety Needs Analysis
   
Validation: 3 years. Lifeskills Medical investigation & report.
   
Course overview: This course is combined with an on-site inspection and analysis of the requirement level for
  first aid provision. This is carried out in conjunction with the organisation's Health & Safety
  Manager and Training Manager. Explanation of, and recommendations for first aid provision
  for the organisation are made, with recommendations for equipment purchase, training, and
  record keeping.
   
Course length: 1 day. Course held on client's premises.
   
Requirements: None.
   
Course includes: Determining the first aid provision requirement by needs analysis, first aid requirements in
  practice, accident prevention, equipment requirements, first aid personnel requirements,
  training provision, on-going analysis, record keeping, reporting procedures.
