Care Assistant [ACA] |
Overview:
This course provides knowledge and skills for the safe and effective
operation of non-emergency ambulance operation. It includes the IHCD
programme for developing the basic responsibilities of the Ambulance
care Assistant, the context in which they work, and the boundaries of
that role. The course covers the universal care requirements that apply
to individuals, and the legislative framework in which ambulance transport
care is provided, the importance of the practice of Health & Safety
is also covered, and D1 driver training. This course is suitable for
persons wanting to join an ambulance service with an ACA qualification.
Entry
requirements:
All applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age, pass arranged health
screening, and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks. Additionally, applicants
must have held a full UK manual driving licence for a minimum of 2 years,
and hold a current UK driving licence.
Course
includes:
The training covers the elements of basic first aid, communication systems,
administrative policies and procedures, training in specialist topics:
caring for the elderly, the infirm and those with special needs. An
integral part of the award also includes the Driver Training Programme
