First Person on Scene [FPOS] Intermediate  

Overview:
This course is an IHCD award, designed to give increased knowledge and skills to those involved in pre-hospital care to help enable them to better manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes until handover to a medical service.

Entry requirements:
All applicants should be able to show, as a minimum, evidence of first aid training undertaken (First Aid at Work or equivalent standard).

Course includes:
Pre-hospital environment and scene management, patient assessment, primary survey, safe moving and handling, respiration and airway management, oro-pharyngeal airways, oxygen supplementation, basic life support adult and paediatric, defibrillation, heart rhythms, circulation and shock, medical and trauma related emergencies, assisting the paramedic.
