Medical Gases [O2 and N2O] Administration - Instructor

Overview:
This course provides knowledge and skills to teach the safe administration of oxygen and nitrous oxide (entonox). It is suitable for persons who wish to instruct on the correct use of medical gases (oxygen and nitrous oxide) to others. Before instructing others, instructors should hold a nationally recognised teaching or training certificate (see C&G 7302 Instructors course).

Entry requirements:
All applicants should have held a recognised oxygen and nitrous oxide administration competent user award for at least 1 year, and an in-date HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate or equivalent standard.

Course includes:
Review of basic life support, basic airway management, oxygen and nitrous oxide administration procedures and delivery systems, precautions and contra indications when using oxygen and nitrous oxide, using oxygen resuscitation equipment, using manual and automatic aspirators, risk assessment and hazards when using oxygen, the structure of an oxygen and nitrous oxide administration course, preparing objectives and learning outcomes, lesson preparation and planning, question technique, developing student course notes.
