Overview:
This course is an IHCD award, designed to give increased knowledge and skills to those involved in pre-hospital to help enable them to better manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes until handover to a medical service.

Entry requirements:
All applicants should be able to show evidence of first aid training undertaken (First Aid at Work or equivalent standard).

Course includes:
Pre-hospital environment and scene management, patient assessment, primary survey, safe moving and handling, respiration and airway management, oropharyngeal airways, oxygen supplementation, basic life support adult and paediatric, defibrillation, heart rhythms, circulation and shock, medical and trauma related emergencies, assisting the paramedic.
