Immediate Life Support

Overview:
This course provides increased knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of basic life support, airway management and safe defibrillation. It is designed to standardise existing in-hospital training undertaken by Resuscitation Officers, and to train healthcare personnel to participate as members of the cardiac arrest team. It is also suitable for healthcare personnel required to manage patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of trauma trained personnel or the cardiac arrest team.

Entry requirements:
All applicants should be able to show, as a minimum, evidence of first aid training undertaken (First Aid at Work or equivalent standard).

Course includes:

Introduction of cardiac arrest rhythms, universal algorithms, basic life support, airway management, ventilation techniques, drugs delivery
