      Automated External Defibrillator & Medical
Gases (O2 & N2O2) Administration Instructor
     
Validation:   2 years. Lifeskills Medical Award, EIHS Approved, MTA Approved.
     
Course overview:   This course provides knowledge and skills to teach the safe and correct use of AED's to thers.
    This course also provides knowledge and skills to teach the safe and correct administration of
    the medical gases oxygen and nitrous oxide (Entonox) to others. This course can also be
    taken together with the City & Guilds 7303 teaching certificate to enable personnel to meet the
    Awarding Bodies requirement for the need to hold a recognised teaching qualification for
    delivery of training of any description to adult learners.
     
Course length:   2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
    subject to suitable training facilities being available.
 
Requirements:   All applicants should have held a recognised AED - competent user award and a recognised
  O2 & N2O2 administration competent user award for a minimum of 1 year, with an in-date
  HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate or equivalent standard.
     
Course includes:   Basic life support, basic airway management, Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines, cardiac
    anatomy and physiology, shockable and non-shockable rhythms, using different types of AED,
    data transfer and downloading procedures, cardiac arrest scenarios, O2 & N2O administration
    procedures & delivery systems, precautions & contra indications when using O2 & N2O2, using
    O2 resuscitation equipment, manual & automatic aspirators, risk assessment & hazards when
    using O2, structuring an AED & Medical Gases administration course, preparing objectives,
    learning outcomes, lesson preparation, question technique, student course notes.

Course overview:   This course provides extended knowledge and first aid skills awareness to teach first aid
  subjects. It is suitable for persons who want to instruct and assess HSE approved First Aid at
  Work and other first aid courses. This course can also be taken together with the City & Guilds
    7303 teaching certificate to enable personnel to meet the Awarding Bodies requirement for the
    need to hold a recognised teaching qualification for delivery of training of any description to
    adult learners.
     
Course length:   4 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford, or on Client's own site
    subject to suitable training facilities being available.
     
Requirements: All applicants should hold, as a minimum, an in-date HSE Approved First Aid at Work
    certificate or equivalent qualification, held for a minimum of 2 years.
     
Course includes:   First aid lesson plans, learning outcomes & skills competence assessment, theory & practical
    instructional techniques, learning confirmation, questioning & answering techniques, setting &
    meeting tests, teaching objectives, practice first aid teaching sessions, first aid visual aids,
    environmental considerations, assessment procedures, record keeping, CPD portfolio, cultural
    issues, first aid protocols, procedural updates, HSE first aid regulations.
     
     
    City & Guilds 7303: Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
     
Validation:   Lifelong. City & Guilds & QCA accredited for C&G 7303
     
Course overview:   This course replaces the C&G 7302 and provides a recognised teaching qualification suitable
    for anyone required to deliver training, and enables personnel to meet the Awarding Bodies
    requirement for the need to hold a recognised teaching qualification for delivery of training of
    any description to adult learners. It has a value of 6 credits, consisting of 30 contact and 30
    noncontact hours , which is assessed by candidates completing two assignments, 1 theory and
    1 practical, both of which are broken down into smaller, prescriptive assignment tasks. You
    can choose to do either the Level 3 or the Level 4 PTLLS Award - the level of the qualification
    is determined by the assessment criteria and assignments, rather than the learning outcomes
    or indicative content. This means, in practical terms, that the delivery of the qualification is the
    same for levels 3 and 4; with the level achieved derived from the assessment undertaken and
    the result achieved by the candidate The Award comprises one unit, entitled ‘Preparing to
    teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector’. This course can also be combined at the same time with
    the Automated External Defibrillator & Medical Gases (O2 & N2O2) Administration (AED &
    MedGas) Instructor course, or the First Aid Instructor course.

    subject to suitable training facilities being available.

Course includes:   The award comprises 1 unit, made-up of 5 sections, entitled ‘Preparing to teach in the Lifelong
    Learning Sector’ (PTLLS), which is based on the teaching/ training cycle. The 5 sections cover
    candidates’ understanding of (1) own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to
    teaching, (2) appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area, (3) session
    planning skills and demonstration of those skills, (4) how to deliver inclusive sessions which
    motivate learners, (5) the use of different assessment methods and the need for record
